Commercial Manager
We're looking for a Commercial Manager to join our Southern Water team based in Falmer, Brighton.
Location: Falmer, Brighton, or Chatham, Kent.
Hours: 40 hours per week
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Southern Water team as we embark on a strategic partnership to deliver ambitious projects for AMP 8. You'll have overall day-to-day commercial responsibility, supporting our framework team in managing the commercial, procurement and financial aspects of this strategic delivery programme. This is a rare chance to mobilise projects across Southern Water's areas and make a real impact from the ground up.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Commercial Manager, you'll be working within the framework team, supporting them in managing the commercial performance of contracts. Your day to day will include:
- Leading and managing commercial teams across the region, overseeing monthly valuations and producing high-level consolidated reports
- Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to advise on commercial strategy, ensuring successful conversion of opportunities and profitability
- Managing risk mitigation strategies and ensuring effective financial controls, maximising cash flow and keeping projects on track
- Supporting work winning activities and providing benchmarking data to grow the pipeline of opportunities
- Presenting commercial updates to internal and external stakeholders, acting as an escalation point where needed
What are we looking for?
This role of Commercial Manager is great for you if:
- You have a relevant degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying and Chartered Status in a relevant professional body
- You can demonstrate 12 years' experience in a senior commercial capacity within a Tier 1 main contracting environment, preferably in the Water sector
- You have excellent contractual awareness with strong understanding of NEC and JCT conditions
- You have experience in developing and implementing commercial strategies to drive growth and profitability
- You're collaborative, trusted and focused, with proven leadership skills and the ability to empower high performance in your teams
