Ganger
We're looking for a Ganger to join our Wymondham, Norfolk team based in Wymondham.
Location: Wymondham, Norfolk – site based 5 days per week
Hours: Permanent Fulltime 45 per week (0730 – 1700)
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
As a Ganger, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful and safe delivery of civil engineering projects on a live public highway. You'll be directing multiple teams to execute advanced specialist tasks, including footway reconstruction, carriageway resurfacing, surface treatments, drainage improvements, traffic signals and structures repairs. This is an opportunity to use your technical skills and leadership abilities to make a real impact whilst promoting a human-focused approach to safety.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Ganger, you'll be working within the site operations team, supporting them in delivering high-quality civil engineering projects safely and efficiently. Your day to day will include:
- Managing daily site operations to maintain safety for both your team and the public
- Overseeing the safekeeping and operation of specialist equipment and site vehicles
- Performing point-of-work risk assessments and ensuring adherence to safe working procedures
- Applying your craft and technical skills to execute tasks to required quality standards
- Leading and supporting your team to work effectively together and maintain a positive environment
What are we looking for?
This role of Ganger is ideal if you:
- Hold NRSWA Operative/Supervisor and SSSTS qualifications, with a strong understanding of highways, streetworks and site safety requirements
- Are a qualified First Aider with a full UK driving licence and are comfortable working across a variety of sites
- Enjoy leading teams, coordinating activities on site and building positive working relationships through clear communication
- Take a proactive, organised approach to planning work, solving problems and delivering high-quality results safely and efficiently
- Have hands-on experience in kerbing, paving, drainage, excavation or other civil engineering and highways maintenance activities
