Are you looking for your next leadership role in the water engineering sector? Come and join our team at Kier Design as we continue to implement our exciting 5 year growth plan.

Kier Design is a top 25 engineering consultancy with 750 design professionals across the UK.  Due to significant growth in our construction order book with water companies we are searching for a leader to join our design business to help deliver growth and design excellence in water engineering. This is a truly exciting role for an entrepreneurial leader to help grow the business and deliver some of the best projects within the regulated water sector.

 

Location: Nationwide

Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

Salary: From £90,000 per annum + benefits + car allowance + private healthcare

 

What will you be responsible for?

As the Head of Capability for Water Engineering, you'll be leading on the development and implementation of our growth plan for the water sector, working closely with our construction teams and other design capability leaders to win and successfully deliver multi-disciplinary projects

Your day to day will include:

  • Partnering with internal clients within our construction teams for the purposes of work winning to grow pipeline and order book. This will include leading on preparation of fee proposals and taking bids successfully through governance
  • Leading the delivery of our portfolio of designs, ensuring design excellence and client satisfaction
  • Identification of external design and consultancy opportunities and coordination with the Kier Design sales team
  • Coordinating with in house design capability leaders to ensure effective resourcing of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Accountability for commercial performance of our portfolio of water design projects and the effective utilisation of resources

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Head of Capability  is great for you if:

  • Achieved Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status in civil Engineering (or other relevant professional body) and have significant technical capability in clean and wastewater projects including an understanding of client technical standards
  • A strong network of relationships within the water sector in client organisations and be comfortable working within a design and build environment
  • An ability to lead diverse multi-disciplinary teams through all stages of a project including feasibility, value engineering and detailed design, to deliver client objectives and balance commercial performance of projects
  • Significant experience bidding for projects including development of fee proposals and taking projects through internal governance
