Head of Design
We're looking for a Head of Design to join our Construction Strategic Projects team at Kier Group.
Location: Nationwide - Site Based during delivery
Hours: Full Time Permanent, Flexibility on Offer

Are you ready to shape the future of major healthcare facilities across the UK? As a Head of Design, you'll be leading design delivery for complex projects exceeding £250m in value, supervising the design management team and collaborating with stakeholders to create innovative healthcare environments that meet the highest standards.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Head of Design, you'll be working within the Construction Strategic Projects team, supporting them in delivering large-scale acute healthcare facilities. Your day to day will include:
- Leading design delivery for complex healthcare projects and supervising the design management team
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure successful coordination across all workstreams
- Managing design risk and opportunities while ensuring compliance with Building Safety Act requirements
- Overseeing design quality, sustainability initiatives, and digital construction processes
- Supporting client relationships through effective communication and stakeholder engagement
What are we looking for?
This role of Head of Design is great for you if:
- You have senior-level experience in Tier 1 contracting with a strong track record in technical delivery of complex projects
- You hold a minimum HND in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management (membership of a professional institute such as CIOB, ARB or ICE is preferable)
- You have excellent technical knowledge including BIM, Building Safety Act, and healthcare standards
- You're a collaborative team player with strong leadership capabilities and exceptional communication skills
- You enjoy nurturing talent and creating an inclusive team environment
