HGV / Tarmac Operative
We're looking for a HGV Driver to join our South West Water team based in Greendale, Exeter.
Location: Greendale, Exeter
Hours: 45 Hours per week, as well as opportunity to join standby rota and earn overtime
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
As an HGV Driver, you will be a vital part of Kier's Water team, supporting reinstatement works on our South West Water contract. You will operate hotboxes and grab vehicles to transport materials and equipment and conduct high-quality tarmac reinstatement following excavation works for water mains repairs, new connections, and other essential utilities projects ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards throughout.
What will you be responsible for?
As a HGV Driver, you'll be working within the Infrastructure / Water team, supporting them in delivering reinstatement works. Your day to day will include:
- Conducting high-quality reinstatement works across tarmac, concrete, and modular paving following excavation activities
- Ensuring all reinstatement complies with HAUC specifications, local authority requirements, and quality expectations
- Safely operating relevant plant, tools, and machinery including rollers, compactors, and associated reinstatement equipment
- Accurately completing all job documentation and digital records using tablet-based systems
- Maintaining site safety, traffic management standards, and environmental controls, actively identifying and reporting hazards
What are we looking for?
This role of HGV Driver is great for you if:
- You hold a Full driving licence for HGV/LGV
- You have experience in highway or utilities reinstatement with the ability to apply quality workmanship across tarmac, concrete, and modular surfacing
- You consistently demonstrate safe working behaviours and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced operational environment
- You can operate relevant plant and equipment confidently and safely, following all standards
- You work effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to support smooth delivery and build positive working relationships
