Highways Maintenance Operative

We're looking for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Birmingham team based in Birmingham.

Location: Birmingham (B7 5HR)

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Salary: £28,000 to £33,000 depending on experience + call out + over time + standby

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highways team, supporting the efficient delivery of highway services across the Birmingham network. You'll be involved in reactive works, emergency response, and improvement works, playing a vital role in keeping our roads safe and well-maintained.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you'll be working within the Birmingham team, supporting them in delivering highway service requirements across the network. Your day to day will include:

  • Responding to incidents on the network within designated timescales, liaising with emergency services and ensuring traffic disruption is minimised
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to the network using plant and equipment
  • Operating a variety of plant and equipment and ensuring site and company equipment is secure at all times
  • Using digital systems to provide accurate records of works carried out on the network
  • Promoting customer care by ensuring the general public and clients are dealt with in a polite and courteous manner

What are we looking for?

This role of Highways Maintenance Operative is great for you if:

  • You are capable of working under pressure within a safety critical role
  • You are self-motivated with the confidence to speak to a range of stakeholders
  • You have the ability to work as a member of a team and with minimal supervision
  • You hold a Full driving licence
  • You have Streetworks qualifications units 1-9
