Highways Maintenance Operative
We're looking for a Highway Maintenance Operative to join our team in Area 3, Thatcham.
Location: Area 3, Thatcham - RG18 9XX
Hours: Permanent full time, Monday to Friday - days.
Salary: £13.45 to £16.40 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus overtime, standby and call out

This is an excellent opportunity to join our highways maintenance team, where you'll play a vital role in keeping our road network running smoothly and safely. You'll be carrying out essential maintenance duties, responding to incidents, and working collaboratively with your team to ensure the highest standards of safety and customer care.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Highway Maintenance Operative, you'll be working within the highways maintenance team, supporting them in maintaining and improving the road network. Your day to day will include:
- Carrying out highways maintenance duties including winter maintenance operations
- Responding promptly to incidents on the network to ensure safety and minimal disruption
- Operating a variety of plant and equipment to complete maintenance tasks effectively
- Completing daily worksheets and vehicle defect reports to maintain accurate records
- Working collaboratively with team members and subcontractors to promote a safe working environment
