We're looking for a Planner to join our Construction Major Project Team

Location: Basingstoke or London, with travel to site required
Hours: Full-time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Join Kier Construction as a Planner and become part of a dynamic team that's shaping the future of major projects. Working on programmes ranging from education and health to defence and custodial sectors, you'll play a vital role in managing projects from pre-contract through to delivery. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your planning expertise whilst contributing to sustainable, innovative construction solutions that make a real difference to communities.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Planner, you'll be working within the Construction team, supporting them in delivering successful project programmes. Your day to day will include:

  • Developing and managing detailed integrated programmes, taking into account project risks, benchmarking, and site constraints
  • Reviewing and monitoring progress across construction programmes, ensuring clear records are maintained throughout
  • Supporting the operational team with short and mid-term planning, including design programmes and tender event schedules
  • Collaborating with project teams to identify opportunities, minimise risks, and maximise profitability
  • Contributing to pre-contract and bid processes, including health and safety integration and change management programmes

What are we looking for?

This role of Planner is great for you if:

  • You have intermediate planning software skills and can manage your own workload independently
  • You possess experience supporting pre-contract or bid processes, with knowledge of temporary works and scaffold schedules
  • You have a good understanding of MEP systems and different forms of contract
  • You can communicate programme drivers, risks, and opportunities clearly to diverse project teams
  • You're able to provide technical support and work collaboratively within a team environment

Rewards and benefits

We're proud to be able to offer our brilliant people a wide variety of benefits that you can tailor to your needs. You can see more information of benefits here.

Diversity and inclusion

Making Kier a diverse and inclusive place to work is a huge priority for us. We're proud of the steps we've taken so far, but we know we must always do more. Our employees are key in shaping Kier's diversity and inclusion initiatives and our people have made a huge impact on how we work, by using their experiences to shape our policies. You can see our D&I action plan here.

As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum criteria for this role will be offered an interview.

Due to the nature of this role, you will also be required to complete a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service Check (applicants with convictions will be treated on a case-by-case basis. We do not discriminate based on an applicant's conviction history or the details of any convictions disclosed to us). Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks.

We look forward to seeing your application to #joinkier.
