Process Engineer
We're looking for a Process Operator to join our United Utilities team based in the North West of England
Location: Brampton
Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Join our commissioning team and play a vital role in bringing wastewater and sludge treatment plants to life. As a Process Operator, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and site delivery teams to safely operate, monitor and support process plant through commissioning, optimisation and successful handover. This is a practical, hands-on role where your experience and attention to detail will help ensure safe and effective plant performance from day one.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Process Operator, you'll be working within the commissioning team, supporting them in the safe operation and monitoring of process assets during start-up and performance testing.
Your day to day will include:
- Operating wastewater and sludge treatment plant safely in accordance with approved methodologies, permits and site instructions
- Carrying out routine plant checks, site rounds and operational observations including pumps, screens, tanks, blowers, mixers and chemical dosing systems
- Monitoring process performance, alarms, trends and equipment status, escalating any concerns to the commissioning team
- Carrying out process sampling, basic analysis and recording operational data to support commissioning and compliance monitoring
- Maintaining accurate daily records, operational logs and commissioning diary entries for handover documentation
What are we looking for?
This role of Process Operator is great for you if:
- You have experience working in water, wastewater, sludge treatment, process plant or a similar operational environment
- You have a good practical understanding of process plant operation including pumps, screens, tanks, blowers, mixers and chemical dosing systems
- You can carry out process sampling, basic site testing, visual inspections and accurately record operational data
- You understand health, safety and environmental requirements including COSHH, permits to work and safe systems of work
- You hold a CSCS card or equivalent site safety accreditation and can follow procedures and instructions accurately
