We are looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to join our Kier Design team based in Nottinghamshire.

Location: Nottinghamshire – hybrid working available, but with at least weekly attendance at the office required along with attendance at site meetings and meetings with clients and other key stakeholders as necessary to suit workload demands.
Hours: Full-time – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

We are excited to welcome a Senior Building Surveyor to our Architecture & Building Consultancy team within Kier Design. This is a wonderful opportunity to deliver high-quality building surveying services to both internal and external clients across public and private sectors, whilst supporting and mentoring junior colleagues as they develop their careers.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will be working within the Building Surveying team, supporting them in delivering excellent consultancy services to our diverse client base. Your day to day will include:

  • Conducting surveys of existing buildings and preparing detailed condition reports, advising on repair, maintenance, improvement or development opportunities
  • Designing and specifying refurbishment, remodelling, restoration and extension works for a variety of building types
  • Managing contracts and supporting procurement processes for building projects, ensuring compliance with health, safety and regulatory requirements
  • Project managing the delivery of building surveying services, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring commissions are completed on time and within budget
  • Contributing to business development through identifying new opportunities, preparing fee proposals and supporting tender responses

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Building Surveyor is great for you if:

  • You hold at least an HNC/HND qualification relevant to building surveying (a degree level or RICS accredited qualification preferred, along with chartered status through either RICS or CIOB)
  • You have broad experience as a building surveying practitioner across different building types and sectors
  • You are confident with contract administration, particularly using JCT and NEC forms, and have strong project management capabilities
  • You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients
  • You are proficient in MS Office, NBS Chorus and AutoCAD, with strong problem-solving abilities and a positive 'can do' approach

Rewards and benefits

We are proud to be able to offer our brilliant people a wide variety of benefits that you can tailor to your needs. You can see more information of benefits here.

Diversity and inclusion

Making Kier a diverse and inclusive place to work is a huge priority for us. We're proud of the steps we've taken so far, but we know we must always do more. Our employees are key in shaping Kier's diversity and inclusion initiatives and our people have made a huge impact on how we work, by using their experiences to shape our policies. You can see our D&I action plan here.

As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum criteria for this role will be offered an interview.

Due to the nature of this role, you will also be required to complete a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service Check (applicants with convictions will be treated on a case-by-case basis. We do not discriminate based on an applicant's conviction history or the details of any convictions disclosed to us). Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks.

We look forward to seeing your application to #joinkier.
