We're looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our KierBAM team based in Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 45 Hours per week - some flexibility on start and end times available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and Bam Nuttall, currently delivering an exciting redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. The Senior Commercial Manager role offers you the opportunity to manage commercial aspects of construction projects, including contract management, cost control, risk assessment, and ensuring profitability while maintaining strong client relationships. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required, which can take up to 8 weeks.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Commercial Manager, you'll be working within the KierBAM team, supporting them in delivering this significant Royal Navy project. Your day to day will include:

  • Managing and overseeing all commercial activities, including preparing and reviewing contracts, tenders, and procurement documentation
  • Negotiating terms and conditions with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors while monitoring project budgets and forecasts
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities to ensure financial targets are met
  • Leading claims management and dispute resolution processes while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
  • Liaising closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and stakeholders to drive improvements in commercial processes

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Commercial Manager is great for you if:

  • You're a professionally qualified Manager with a construction, commercial, or finance-related qualification and hold Chartership
  • You have a strong understanding of contract law, commercial best practices, and financial literacy including budgeting and cost control
  • You possess excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to analyse complex data and make strategic decisions
  • You hold a CSCS White AQP/PQP card and are proficient with commercial and project management software
  • You have relevant professional qualifications such as RICS, CIOB, or equivalent
