We're looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our Construction London and Thames Valley team based in London and Thames Valley.

Location: London and Thames Valley
Hours: Full-time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

We're looking for a Senior Design Manager who can deliver Design Management across our projects with a high degree of independence. You'll be representing Kier at a senior level, managing high-value complex projects across various sectors, and working collaboratively with our senior project teams. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on our construction projects from pre-bid through to handover.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Design Manager, you'll be working within the Design Management team, supporting them in delivering successful project outcomes. Your day to day will include:

  • Delivering Design Management on projects with a high degree of independence, working alongside senior project teams
  • Managing consultant design through pre-construction periods and integrating specialist designers
  • Managing design review and approval processes through documentation, document management systems and inspections
  • Bidding for new work collaboratively with project teams, establishing external relationships and securing work through reports and presentations
  • Managing third party interfaces such as Planning and Building Control, and reporting to the Design Director at regular intervals

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Design Manager is great for you if:

  • You have an appropriate CSCS card and professional construction qualifications (Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or similar)
  • You have thorough knowledge of the design and construction process, CDM 2015 Regulations, and the Building Safety Act
  • You possess strong written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical, and can present confidently to various audiences
  • You have demonstrable experience in managing consultants and design teams, and being a key client interface
  • You're able to use robust judgement in weighing up complex information and can direct and negotiate with consultants at a senior level

We're all about finding potential here at Kier, and transferrable skills are always welcome! So, even if you don't tick every box, please apply and we can have a chat.

We're proud to be able to offer our brilliant people a wide variety of benefits that you can tailor to your needs. You can see more information of benefits here.

Making Kier a diverse and inclusive place to work is a huge priority for us. We're proud of the steps we've taken so far, but we know we must always do more. Our employees are key in shaping Kier's diversity and inclusion initiatives and our people have made a huge impact on how we work, by using their experiences to shape our policies. You can see our D&I action plan here.
