Senior Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Kier Design team based in various locations. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor. Join us as a Senior Engineer and become part of one of the UK's leaders in temporary works design and management and construction-related technical services. As part of our 100-strong team, you'll get to work on hundreds of projects across one of the most diverse and high-profile portfolios in the country, with access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline – supporting complex construction and major infrastructure schemes from concept through to delivery.

Location: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth  – agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…

• An incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IEng MICE) with demonstrable experience, or have significant experience in construction engineering
• Experienced in leading the delivery of construction engineering services including temporary works design, design management, and technical assessments
• Confident in managing projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and quality management systems
• A strong communicator who enjoys building positive relationships with clients and multidisciplinary teams
• Committed to continuous professional development and promoting best practice within the engineering profession

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Engineer, you'll be working within the engineering team, supporting them in delivering a broad range of construction engineering services. We're seeking a talented Senior Engineer to join our engineering team, where you'll lead the delivery of construction engineering services across a variety of projects. This is an opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions, support collaborative project teams, and play a key role in ensuring that our designs are safe, buildable, and meet the highest standards. You'll be working in a supportive environment where your expertise will enhance our reputation for engineering excellence, while helping to develop and mentor others in the team.

Your day to day will include:

• Leading the delivery of temporary works design, tender support, alternative solutions, and design management advice across projects
• Managing day-to-day workloads of engineers and technical staff, ensuring technical compliance and quality of design deliverables
• Acting as the lead representative at project meetings, developing positive relationships with clients and ensuring contractual obligations are met
• Overseeing the financial and commercial aspects of projects, monitoring progress against programme and budget
• Providing leadership to your team, conducting performance reviews, managing workloads, and supporting the development of staff within Kier Design
