Senior Planner
We're looking for a Senior Planner to join our Water business team working on our East Hyde site in Bedfordshire.
Location: split between site at East Hyde and from home
Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
The Water business unit of Kier's Natural Resources division offers an exciting opportunity to work on large, complex multi-discipline (Civils and MEICA) infrastructure projects that'll make a lasting impact on communities. As a Senior Planner, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of assigned projects through robust planning, programme development, and proactive risk management. Working under IChemE conditions of contract, you'll may also mentor junior planning team members, supporting their professional development.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Planner, you'll be working within the Planning team, supporting them in delivering all programme and project control outputs. Your day to day will include:
- Leading planning activities and developing comprehensive programmes from first principles for complex, multi-discipline projects
- Monitoring progress, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring full compliance with contractual requirements including programme submissions and change management
- Collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and clients to drive engagement and secure commitment to delivery plans
- Providing strategic guidance through scenario-based "what-if" programmes and impact assessments to enable informed decisions
- Supporting commercial teams on time-related matters including prolongation and extension of time assessments
What are we looking for?
This role of Senior Planner is great for you if:
- You have relevant on-site experience on complex construction projects, preferably multi-discipline (Civils and MEICA) work in the Water sector
- You have proven successful experience in the Planning discipline with comprehensive knowledge of planning techniques and first principles
- You're proficient in planning software, specifically Primavera P6, with experience ensuring compliance with UK construction industry contracts such as NEC, JCT or IChemE
- You have a comprehensive understanding of commercial and contractual matters relating to time, including experience with analytical assessments for delay or change entitlement
- You possess excellent communication skills and are comfortable dealing directly with clients and stakeholders, with the ability to influence project teams and mentor junior colleagues
