SHE Advisor

We're looking for a SHE Advisor to join our highways maintenance team based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for you to provide professional Safety, Health and Environmental advice and support to operational and office-based teams.

Location: Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us
Salary: £37,000 - £47,000 per year + £5k annual car allowance + benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As a SHE Advisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and positive working environment across a local authority highways contract, supporting continuous improvement and the effective delivery of Kier's SHE objectives in line with our core values.

Your day to day will include:

  • Providing SHE advice, guidance and support to operational teams and office-based staff
  • Undertaking site inspections, audits, and safety tours across highways activities
  • Supporting incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, ensuring actions are implemented and lessons learned
  • Assisting with the delivery of health and safety campaigns, SHE initiatives and behavioural safety drives
  • Encouraging positive, practical improvements to working practices and risk control measures

What are we looking for?

This SHE Advisor role would be a great fit if you bring:

  • A full UK driving licence
  • Experience working within the highways or wider transportation sector
  • A proactive, practical and safety‑first approach to managing SHE
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage and positively influence stakeholders at all levels
  • A genuine commitment to promoting wellbeing and helping to create an inclusive, supportive workplace
