We're looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join our STEP Construction Partner team based nationwide with preferred location of West Burton.

Location: Nationwide with preferred location of West Burton
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

ILIOS is the Construction Partner for the UK's STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) fusion programme, working to design and build a prototype fusion energy power plant at West Burton in Nottinghamshire. As Health & Safety Manager, you'll play a vital role in shaping the safety culture for this groundbreaking clean energy programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of engineering innovation and contribute to a world-first project that will help create a UK fusion industry.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Health & Safety Manager, you'll be working within the Health, Safety & Wellbeing team, supporting them in delivering strategic and operational leadership on safety, health, wellbeing and environmental compliance. Your day to day will include:

  • Providing expert advice on safety, health, wellbeing and environmental legislative matters, ensuring alignment with relevant standards and requirements
  • Developing and implementing a proactive safety culture across the programme, working collaboratively with partner organisations
  • Leading the strategy to achieve ISO45001 certification and implementing Best Available Techniques (BAT) and ALARP ways of working
  • Creating and delivering metrics and dashboards to improve reporting and measure safety culture maturity progress
  • Identifying emerging risks and threats, monitoring the risk environment, and developing appropriate mitigations

What are we looking for?

This role of Health & Safety Manager is great for you if:

  • You hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent, with Chartered membership of a relevant professional organisation (such as CMIOSH)
  • You have proven experience in a senior role managing specialist teams and delivering customer-focused services in complex or industrial environments
  • You possess strong knowledge of occupational health and safety management systems and relevant civil and criminal law
  • You demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels
  • You hold a Full driving licence and are able to attend site regularly (typically 3-4 days per week)
