We're looking for a Slinger/Signaller to join our AB2 - MEP team based in Hinkley Point C, Somerset.
Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset
Hours: 45 hours per week - shift pattern to be confirmed

KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and Bam Nuttall and has been a key contractor at Hinkley Point C (HPC) since 2012, delivering major site preparation, earthworks, and infrastructure projects. We are seeking a Slinger/Signaller to join our Lifting team. This is a safety-critical role responsible for the safe slinging of loads and communication with the crane operator during lifting operations, ensuring that loads are correctly attached, balanced, and lifted safely, minimizing risks to personnel and property.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Slinger/Signaller, you'll be working within the Lifting team, supporting them in ensuring safe and efficient lifting operations. Your day to day will include:
- Inspecting lifting equipment for damage or defects before use, ensuring they are within their certified safe working load and appropriate for the intended lift
- Assessing the weight and centre of gravity of loads to be lifted, selecting and applying appropriate slinging methods to ensure load stability
- Providing clear and concise signals to the crane operator using recognized hand signals or radio communication, directing the crane's movements safely and efficiently
- Establishing and maintaining exclusion zones around lifting areas to protect personnel and property from falling loads or crane movements
- Adhering strictly to all relevant legislation, regulations, industry best practices, and company procedures related to lifting operations
What are we looking for?
This role of Slinger/Signaller is great for you if:
- You hold a certified Slinger Signaller qualification (e.g., CPCS, A40a) and HS&E Operative test
- You have proven experience in slinging various types of loads with a thorough understanding of BS 7121 and LOLER
- You possess excellent communication and hand signalling skills with the ability to assess load weights and centres of gravity
- You are safety conscious, detail oriented, and able to work under pressure making sound judgments
- You are physically fit, reliable, and able to pass a safety critical medical
