Design Manager
We're looking for a Design Manager to join our Kier Construction Scotland team based in Stepps.
Location: Stepps (office) - travel to project sites in Scotland with some home working capacity
Hours: Full time (Monday to Friday) - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
As a Design Manager, you'll be working on exciting public sector projects across Scotland, including healthcare, education, heritage, retrofit, and MOD facilities. Our design and build approach allows us to deliver exceptional value and build lasting relationships with our clients. Projects typically range from £10M to £100M+, and you'll be involved from tender stage through to delivery.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Design Manager, you'll be working within the Kier Construction Scotland team, supporting them in delivering high-quality design solutions. Your day to day will include:
- Managing the delivery of design information in line with agreed programmes and schedules
- Overseeing design consultants to ensure compliance with standards, addressing any performance issues
- Leading design meetings, producing reports, and updating senior leadership on progress
- Creating design programmes, scopes, responsibility matrices, and schedules
- Assessing and mitigating design-related risks whilst maintaining quality standards
What are we looking for?
This role of Design Manager is great for you if:
- You hold a relevant qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture
- You have demonstrable experience in a design role within a main contractor environment
- You've worked on tenders and live projects of significant size and technical complexity
- You have a solid understanding of building regulations, BIM level 2, and building contracts (NEC, JCT, SBCC)
- You hold a Full driving licence
