Finance Director

We're looking for a Finance Director to join our London team based in London.

Location: London – hybrid working available with office working 4 days per week
Hours: 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

London as a region sits within regional build as part of Kier Group, with revenues expected to grow from a current base of £220m to £400m in the next 2-3 years. It is a key growth and flagship business for Kier. This role will provide strategic financial leadership across the region and play a vital part in the broader construction business. You'll be joining at an exciting time of growth and transformation, where your expertise will directly shape our success.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Finance Director, you'll be working within the London team, supporting them in delivering ambitious growth targets whilst maintaining excellent financial performance. Your day to day will include:

  • Providing overall financial leadership across the Kier London business, creating and implementing a financial strategy to underpin both the Business Plan and the national strategy
  • Supporting the Commercial and Managing Director to deliver on strategic plans, managing stakeholders in group, treasury and other parts of construction
  • Managing financial resources across the region, maximising profit and cash across the portfolio of operational and pre-construction projects and frameworks
  • Taking a highly visible and active role in ensuring we select the right work, have commercially dynamic bid strategies, and provide robust challenge throughout the life of a project
  • Leading, managing and inspiring diverse teams, creating opportunities for development and building a culture where everyone can reach their potential and contribute to business success

What are we looking for?

This role of Finance Director is great for you if:

  • You're ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a degree in Finance or Accounting and demonstrable finance experience across varying levels and sectors
  • You're an emotionally intelligent, people-centred leader able to set clear goals and empower teams to excel
  • You have a demonstrable track record of leading a large portfolio of construction projects with varied contractual mechanisms and an understanding of the London construction market
  • You're a collaborative influencer able to navigate complex client, supply chain and senior stakeholder relationships with creativity and curiosity
  • You have strong contractual knowledge and negotiation skills with evidence of securing favourable terms and understanding full risk profiles of projects and frameworks
